This will be a 9-Hole event, cart path only.
Golf Finch Pro-Am Dinner Party starts at 5:30 as planned.
Tuesday, July 23rd Golf Sightings
TrueNorth Greater Cedar Rapids Open, presented by UFG Insurance, began with a pre-start
tribute to four groups of golfers who are part of the G.I.V.E. Foundation (Golf for Injured Veterans
Everywhere). These groups were invited to play in the Pro-Am and were sponsored by RIM
Enterprises and St. John & Gielau, LLP. There was great applause as each player
was introduced to the other 25 Pro-Am teams.
The day was hazy and warm with little wind, a rarity at Hunters Ridge Golf Course. The course
was in great shape and ready for great play. And great play was happening – Some of the
Teams were eight under par through nine holes and six under par through eight holes. The
professionals, playing their own ball, liked the setup, with a couple of them five under par
after just nine holes.
The Head Professional at Hunters Ridge made a tough and proper call – the horn blew and
we were called off the course in anticipation of strong storms.
As we put our clubs away, John and Taylor Lillibridge of GoldFinch Tap + Eatery went to work in
a hurry as they prepared their wonder charcuterie board so that the GoldFinch and IBEV
Cool Down was available for all who had just left the course. No additional play happened on
Tuesday, as rains came and went and came again. There is hope for better weather for
Wednesday’s Pro-Am.
